if you’re new to this blog and didn’t note in my last post, i got glasses a few weeks ago. this new experience has “opened my eyes,” and here’s what the Lord has shown me through it…

i knew i needed glasses for a while, but i didn’t realize just how bad it was. i mean, i couldn’t really read signs when i was driving, the boards at school, or even see the score at a softball game. in my defense, there were a few lights missing from the scoreboard, and i’ve never been in a wreck that was my fault, however, i have missed a few exits and made some wrong turns as a result…but that’s beside the point. when i got my glasses, the change was unbelievable! things were ridiculously clear and so defined. i couldn’t believe i could see things from so far away, and then i realized that most people are able to see these things pretty regularly. this is how it was supposed to be; this is how it had always been. i had been missing out!

isn’t that the way it is as believers? it’s like things are there and they’ve been there the entire time. the truth about Jesus has been around forever. we’ve had access to it, but sometimes it takes a while for us to see and understand it. it’s like, once your eyes have been opened, you realize what you’ve been missing out on, and the new way is so much better. it’s how it’s supposed to be; it makes sense; it fits; it’s what we were made for. and just like with my glasses, it takes some time getting used to, but once you do, you can never go back to the way things used to be. it’s just not the same. you’ve experienced something that you had been missing out on, and it changes you.

i know it’s pretty simple, but these are the moments the Lord uses to teach me. times when He takes my current, unimportant, small, daily situations and makes them into something more. He does that and makes life so much better.
